This year, the Canadian Youth Chess Championship is being hosted in Surrey, BC, organized by JtM Chess Academy and Vancity Chess. In partnership with JtM Chess Academy, Fraser Valley Chess Academy is excited to offer the in-person CYCC 2025 Official Prep Boot Camp in Langley, BC from July 2nd to 4th, 2025.

Grandmaster Gergely Szabo, Team Canada Head Coach and a member of JtM Chess Academy, will be travelling to BC from Romania to facilitate both CYCC and this official Boot Camp. Nick Beqo, FIDE Instructor at Fraser Valley Chess Academy, will also provide training on positional practice, practice with simul games, etc.

Schedule: July 2nd – 4th, 2025
– 9:45am: arrival
– 10am to 1pm: training with FI Nick Beqo
– 1pm to 1:30pm: lunch break
– 1:30pm to 4:30pm: training with GM Gergely Szabo
*We request that participants bring their own lunch and water bottles. Snacks may be provided, and water can be refilled at our water station.

Pricing: $250 + GST until June 30th, 2025.
*Special pricing for players who participated in Fraser Valley Classical 3: $220 + GST
*All boot camp participants receive a $20 gift card from FVCA, which can be redeemed towards Fraser Valley Rapid 17, happening July 5th, 2025, or World Chess Day Championship, happening July 19th – 20th, 2025.

If you selected yes, you are required to prepare a Lichess / ChessBase study of your FVC3 games, and make GM Gergely Szabo a contributor on or before June 25th, 2025. He will analyze and provide personalized feedback to these games during the in-person session at the boot camp.

Policies and Guidelines:

1. Any participant/ parent/ guardian with frequent coughing, sneezing, other visible symptoms of illness may be asked to withdraw from the camp/ leave the premises.
2. If you have experienced COVID-19 or its symptoms in past 14 days, we request you to voluntarily withdraw from the camp for health and safety of all our patrons.
3. Anyone entering the premises consents to being photographed/ videos recorded. This footage may be used for internal references, social media marketing or promotional purposes. If you do not wish to be clicked/ recorded/ promoted – you may contact us via email and we will take care of your request.
4. Decision of the event organizers will be final in the event of a conflict.
5. Parents are requested to drop-off and pick-up the kids on time. We cannot take responsibility of the students after completion of camp timings.
