Meadowridge School Winter 2025 Chess After-School Program

Wishing all parents and students at Meadowridge School a Happy New Year 2025 in advance! The Chess program at Meadowridge for the Winter 2025 term is here. The program is proudly organized by Fraser Valley Chess Academy.

All grades 3 to 12 Meadowridge students are eligible to enroll in the program regardless of whether you participated in the program last term. The session shall be split into 2 age appropriate groups if we have enough high school students participating in the program.

Schedule: every Wednesday, 3:30pm to 4:45pm (75 minutes) from Jan 15th, 2025 to March 12th, 2025 for a total of 9 sessions
Per student fee: $248 + GST = $260
Registration deadline: January 10th, 2025
Location: Meadowridge School, room # 135 in the middle school atrium.

In order to encourage the school chess team to enter the competitive turf, we are offering booking forms to 2 our of kid’s friendly competitions in the form below. These are optional but recommended, and will allow our instructors to better prepare the students during their program. Parents can decide to register for these now or at a later time independently.

Terms & Conditions:
– Registration will be on a first come first serve basis for paid students only. 
– Full refund can be requested via email before the program starts. A $10 admin + processing fee deduction shall apply on all refunds. 
– After the program starts, cancellation can be accepted within the first 2 weeks with a pro-rated refund for balance sessions.  
– After week 3, there will be no refunds issued for cancellation/ drop-outs. 
– No refunds or credits for regular student absence, unless there is a long leave of absence due to emergency.

The Annual BC Inter-School Championship is a chance for students to represent their school in our largest tournament series. Last year, we saw over 250 players from all across BC.

The tournament is happening May 31 to Jun 1, 2025, at HD Stafford Middle School, Langley. You can find more details about this event on our tournaments page. Entry fee includes taxes.

The CFC (Canadian Chess Federation) represents Canada to the world as a member of FIDE, the international chess body. As a CFC member, you have access to all CFC rated events across Canada, and will obtain national CFC chess ratings. There are two types of CFC ratings: Regular, and Quick. Long story short, all tournaments with long games (60+ min per player) use your CFC regular rating. Tournaments with shorter games (< 60 min per player) use your CFC quick rating. They are different ratings and do NOT overlap. This tournament uses CFC Quick ratings.

1. By entering the venue premises, you consent your student/ child to being photographed or recorded in videos. This footage may be used for internal references, social media marketing, or promotional purposes. 6. An administrative & processing fee of $10 is deducted for all refunds (full/ partial).

7. No refunds or credits for regular student absence, unless there is a long leave of absence due to emergency.

8. All walk-home permissions/ consent must be in writing only. Verbal requests shall not be accepted. If you need to change the student's walk-home permission later on, please email us at [email protected].

9.
