Program Overview
At Fraser Valley Chess Academy, we guide students through a progressive journey of chess learning with four exciting programs: Picky Pawns, a playful introduction for Kindergarten to Grade 1 students who are complete beginners, where they learn the board, piece movement, and the basics of play; Naughty Knights, our popular beginner program for Grades 1–3 that builds problem-solving skills, focus, and logical thinking while making chess fun and engaging; Relentless Rooks, the intermediate stage where players dive into openings, checkmate patterns, tournament preparation, and self-analysis with home practice and club membership included; and Whacky Wizards, the advanced level designed for ambitious players ready to master endgames, complex puzzles, personalized opening repertoires, classical play, and Grandmaster game study, complete with unlimited club access and personalized coaching.
Chess board and clock (for use during classroom lessons), handouts with study materials for home (as necessary), in-class handouts, slideshows and videos (as applicable). All classroom stationery is included (students only carry water bottles as necessary). Player of the month: awarded to the most promising student on the basis of topics learnt that month. All students receive a FVCA T-shirt + Certificate & reward at completion of each level. All FVCA students get priority access to upcoming tournaments and events organized by us and special discounts on merchandise and products.
