Crescent Heights Fall 2025 Chess & Minecraft After-School Program

We are excited to welcome back the students at Crescent Heights after the summer break! The Chess and Minecraft program at Crescent Heights for the Fall 2025 term are now open for registration. The programs are proudly organized by Fraser Valley Chess Academy and Zebra Robotics Langley.

All Grade 2 to 7 Crescent Heights students are eligible to enroll in the programs regardless of whether you participated in the program last term.

Minecraft Program Schedule: every Monday 3:15pm to 4:15pm, from September 29th to November 24th, no session on October 13th and November 10th, for a total of 7 sessions.
Per student fee: $175 + GST

Chess Program Schedule: every Wednesday 3:15pm to 4:15pm, October 1st to November 26th, for a total of 9 sessions.
Per student fee: $225 + GST

For chess students, there will also be an option to subscribe to our Chess Student Portal. For the duration of September to November, this portal gives students access to our proprietary curriculum, practice through frequent online tournaments, challenge bots to increase their strength, and for us to track their progress, assignment homework, analyze their Lichess/ Chess.com games and much more.

Even more exciting news for chess students: in 2026, Fraser Valley Chess Academy will be the organizer for the BC Youth Chess Championship for the first time! This is the official qualifier in BC for the 2026 Canadian Youth Chess Championship. We encourage our students to sign up for this exciting tournament for a chance to compete against hundreds of promising youth players from all across BC. Terms & Conditions:
– Registration will be on a first come first serve basis for paid students only. 
– Full refund can be requested via email before the program starts. A $10 admin + processing fee deduction shall apply on all refunds. 
– After the program starts, cancellation can be accepted within the first 2 weeks with a pro-rated refund for balance sessions.  
– After week 3, there will be no refunds issued for cancellation/ drop-outs. 
– No refunds or credits for regular student absence, unless there is a long leave of absence due to emergency.

This is our tournament series exclusively open to FVCA students and coaches, happening Dec 6th, 2025. It's a great way to introduce students to rated tournaments, and to test out the skills they will develop during the term.

The CFC (Canadian Chess Federation) represents Canada to the world as a member of FIDE, the international chess body. As a CFC member, you have access to all CFC rated events across Canada, and will obtain national CFC chess ratings. There are two types of CFC ratings: Regular, and Quick. Long story short, all tournaments with long games (60+ min per player) use your CFC regular rating. Tournaments with shorter games (< 60 min per player) use your CFC quick rating. They are different ratings and do NOT overlap. This tournament uses CFC Quick ratings.
