Fraser Valley Chess Academy is delighted to support the inception of a new chess club in Alberta, as we announce the launch of the Edmonton Junior Chess Academy, a registered education centre aimed at supporting the growth of chess education across Edmonton. This initiative is also supported by the Alberta Chess Association. Our organizations plan to foster the chess community in Edmonton together through CFC-rated tournaments, chess club meetups, lessons, and much more. New lesson batches begin at the beginning of April. Discover below!

The CFC (Canadian Chess Federation) represents Canada to the world as a member of FIDE, the international chess body. As a CFC member, you have access to all CFC rated events across Canada, and will obtain national CFC chess ratings. There are two types of CFC ratings: Regular, and Quick. Long story short, all tournaments with long games (60+ min per player) use your CFC regular rating. Tournaments with shorter games (< 60 min per player) use your CFC quick rating. They are different ratings and do NOT overlap. This tournament uses CFC Quick ratings**
If you have a valid CFC ID, this name should match with the CFC database.
