After School Programs

2026 marks a special year, with FIDE and the International School Chess Federation (ISCF) officially declaring it as the Year of Chess in Education. With this in mind, we’re continuing our mission to foster the community and make chess more accessible and affordable for kids in schools through after-school programs, with all equipment provided.

Across BC, we currently partner with over 14 schools and school districts to offer fun, safe, educational, and engaging after-school chess programs for kids.

Are you a principal, teacher, or PAC member interested in starting an after-school chess program or club? Take a look at how it works below and fill out the request form to get started.

How it Works:

  1. We form annual or term-based contracts with each partner school. The School/ PAC is to provide a classroom, gym, library, or other suitable space to conduct the program.
  2. Parents pre-register via our booking form/ website by term only for approved programs. The School or School District is welcome to handle the registration process as necessary.
  3. We offer after-school 90-minute sessions, with a fee of $25 + GST per student, per session. We host between 8 to 12 sessions per term, which can be customized as per school requirements. Up to 2 free seats for low income families per program.
  4. The program requires at least 12 students to start a program at a school. We bring experienced instructors directly to your school. All instructors come with criminal checks cleared & WorkSafe BC.
  5. We provide all necessary equipment, study materials and fully responsible for setup and take down of the program area.
